Dr John Saint

North East lad. North London life.

Assistant Professor, researcher, and data analytics educator based in London. I work at the intersection of learning science and data — trying to understand how people learn, and building tools and experiences that help them do it better.

Ukulele player. Sunderland fan. Semi-nerd. Demi-god.

Teaching

I teach data analytics and business intelligence at Regent's University London, across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. My approach is straightforward — I care more about students being able to make good decisions with data than I do about them knowing the mechanics of every statistical test. Data literacy matters. The ability to tell a story with numbers matters more.

Research & Publications

I study how people learn — not what they learn, but how I go about it. Using data from digital learning environments, I look for patterns in student behaviour over time: when they engage, how they adapt, and what those patterns tell us about learning that actually sticks. My work sits at the intersection of learning analytics, educational data mining, and self-regulated learning. I'm particularly interested in the temporal and sequential dimensions of learning behaviour — the stuff that gets lost when you only look at final grades.
